Intel 945 Chipset Video Problem on Slackware 13.37

After installing Slackware 13.37 on my Eee PC, I kept getting random crashes or freezes while XScreenSaver was running, usually requiring a hard reboot. It looks like there’s some problem with the Linux Intel video driver on Intel 945 chipsets, but I found a fix for this here.

My BIOS doesn’t have an option to increase video memory, but disabling the composite extension in Xorg seemed to get rid of the crashes requiring a hard reboot and enabling the static shadow buffer has gotten rid of the crashes completely.

Conan Standby Tickets

Got to see Conan yesterday. We got in line for standby tickets a little over an hour before 10am and received standby tickets numbered 7 and 8. We were told to come back at 2pm and at around 2:30pm we were given tickets to the show. I think the cut off for standby tickets that day was around 10.

About a week or so ago, my local McDonald’s started advertising the Rolo McFlurry available for a limited time.

New McNugget Dipping Sauces

It looks like the sauces that were available with the Chicken McBites are now available nationally with McNuggets. The six sauces being advertised are Honey Mustard, Tangy BarBeQue, Sweet ‘N Sour, Creamy Ranch, Sweet Chili, and Spicy Buffalo.

Strangely, the Honey Mustard and Creamy Ranch sauce cups are .78 oz., the Spicy Buffalo sauce cup is .79 oz., while the rest of the sauce cups are 1 oz.

I believe Hot Mustard, Chipolte BBQ, and Honey are also still available as McNugget dipping sauces.

Pokémon McDonald’s Happy Meal Promotion

According to a press release from The Pokémon Company International, Pokémon will be in Happy Meals June 17–July 7. Each Happy Meal will feature one of eight figures of Pikachu, Reshiram, Zekrom, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Zorua, or Zoroark, and one of twelve Pokémon Trading Card Game cards.

Chicken McBites are now available at McDonald’s in the greater Detroit metro area. They are offered in snack size (4 oz.), regular size (6 oz.), and shareable size (12 oz.), and there are six sauces to choose from: Sweet Chili, Creamy Ranch, Spicy Buffalo, Tangy BarBeQue, Sweet ‘n Sour, and Honey Mustard.
